We’d love to hear from all the success stories out there.
Something about hearing from your peers that they are truly making their home business dreams come true helps give the rest of us the gumption to keep going, trying and most of all believing in ourselves when it seems no one else does.

I would love to hear what other women are doing to market their home businesses.
Obviously these days you can market online and off line.
I’m debating on which path to take. Of course the internet is popular, but should traditional methods be considered old school?
I am hoping to build my virtual assistant business. I want to be able to work at home full time. I am going to put an ad in the phone book – but I’m wondering….since it’s a “virtual” assistant – should all my ads be in the virtual world (internet)?
Hello there!
I was just wondering I am a stay at home mom who is looking for a real work from home position. Are looking for individuals to help you? Or is this a one woman position for now?
Thanks
Often times my husband and I found ourselves trying to make ends meet. He is the only one working right now and this placed a lot of strain in our household. However, we’ve decided that I should stay home and take care of the home and children. I always wanted to start my own business but felt hesitant because of all the scams that are out there. One day, I was approached by a friend of mine. She has her own business and introduced me to it. I did my research and even attended one of her parties. I was sold! It made perfect sense to me that now was “The Right Time!”
I’ve FINALLY realized a dream of mine that I’ve had for several years. I think most of us dream to some day have our own business. Well, my dream came true! I am now an Independent Decorating Consultant with Home Interiors. Home Interiors provided me with the tools and information necessary to assist in the launch of my home-based decorating consultant business. It was “The Right Time” to start my own home-based business! This has afforded my husband and I to pay for bills, college for our two teenage daughter, and we are even saving for a trip! Not to mention the strain has lifted from us.
I chose to become an Independent Decorating Consultant with Home Interiors because of its quality products and great prices. I also wanted a business that I could work from home on my time and schedule. I welcomed the idea of having flexible working hours and be based at home so that I can take care of my children, have the flexibility and control of what’s happening in my life. I can make myself available to help out in my children’s school or just relax for a couple of hours. Now, lets talk about shopping! As a Decorating Consultant I am able to purchase products at wholesale prices! Can you image that! My home is decorated all over the place with Home Interiors merchandise. Everyone who comes to my home are pleased with the way I have decorated my home. Needless to say, they also end up buying items for their home.
Another aspect I find enjoyable is meeting the diversity of people. Each of their lifestyles will reflect how I approach their particular taste of style. It’s truly a very diverse, creative, enjoyable field that keeps me very motivated to move from one client to the next. Sometimes helping them choose the perfect framed art piece, sconces or other products can be a challenge but the rewards are priceless when the client is happy! The rewards are more priceless when I do Fundraisers that I know will benefit children and sick patients. This is truly the best part of my business!!! Success, to me, its when I’ve been able to help my community!! Success, to me, is when I’ve been able to help my community! When defining success two quotes come to mind, “Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.” (Danny Thomas) and “Six essential qualities that are key to success: sincerity, personal integrity, humility, courtesy, wisdom, charity.” (Dr. William Menninger)
A home-based business provides me with the outlet to develop my business skills, make money and have fun while at it! So, whether you want to follow your dream or you’re a stay at home mom with your kids and want a little extra income in your life, or if you work 60 hours a week with no way out — this could be the answer for you too. Don’t let your dreams slip through your fingers. Grab them!

I think it’s important to find a business that suits you.
Think long and hard about what inventory you might need to carry, your marketing budget…what is the monthly quota? A lot of direct sales companies require a minimum in sales every month or quarter. I know that Tastefully Simple does – because I am a rep with them.
Avon doesn’t – but you do have to order something at least every two campaigns to stay active and there is a fee to have an eRep Avon website.
You have to go into thinking….I WILL tell people about my business, I WILL advertise, I WILL stick with it for at least a year or two.
Think of all the expenses that you might incur. Understand the comp plan and also many companies have “start up” bonuses – so take advantage of those.

Not sure if you’re inquiring if HomeBasedBusinessMom.com is hiring or what?
I’m not personally hiring….
But creating your own blog might be a great way to get started if you think you’d like it. You won’t become a millionaire (well…maybe there are millionaire bloggers out there….but can’t say I know of anyone personally!)
You might make a little money.
This blog brings in about $25 a month right now. That’s not too bad! It’s brand new!
Feel free to look at my work at home blog. I try and post jobs I find every day

Kelly,
How does your blog already bring in $25.00 a month? I don’t understand where the money comes from. I just don’t understand the whole concept, I guess.
Trica
Trica,
A blog is a great way to make a little money.
First you have to have an idea of what you want to write about. You’ll also need to build your blog using WordPress (that’s what I use!), or go to blogger.com. (There are other programs as well.)
Be original….
Have fun with it….
And build traffic to your blog.
If people like what they are reading they’ll come back!
You can make money by placing a few ads here and there on your blog.
There is tons of info on people making LOTS of money with their blogs. Just do a couple of searches for say….”making money with a blog” or something.
Be consistent and add good (original) content. Hopefully in a year or two you’ll have an audience and traffic built up.
This is just a tiny overview…
Hopefully it helps with the initial understanding of the concept of making money with a blog.
