Hello there! I too am suffering from GERD and find its really annoying when people tell me that "its all in my head". I was hospitalized weeks ago after 2 ER visits, doctors have told me that what I had was GERD, and my anxiety heightened the symptoms. I've never had anxiety problems before. There is a physical discomfort before I actually get anxious.

I am also anti-meds, so I refuse to take anything for the anxiety. I would rather deal with the GERD head on with diet, lifestyle changes, and other medicines for it than go on anti-deps.

I just put up a blog for my experiences with GERD, it also serves as my food diary too. Click here to view it. Thanks! And everyone, FEEL BETTER!

Kelly,

I just read your story and am feeling my anxiety go down. Last night I awoke not being able to breathe. I
did get out of bed and ran around in circles and was trying hard to breath. I sounded like a screeching thing. My husband tried to comfort me. I was terrified ~ thinking I was going to die. It was the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced. About 20 seconds later my throat re opened. I had hot burning acid in my throat and was coughing. I took some tums...this morning my throat was sore.

I have had previous night time awakening of hot reflux and coughing but NEVER the breathing thing. I never get this during the day or any heartburn symptoms during the day. Only at night. I am terrified to go to sleep.

Does the throat always relax and let you breath again...or do some people pass out?

Maybe I should order a Gerd pillow ~ the wedge thing that I just read about. Have you tried that? I am slightly over weight..5'8 and 175 lbs. Healthy.

I hate to take medication. But don't want that in ability to breath to happen again.

Terrified iin Denver,
