AVON Calling…..maybe?!

by HomeBasedBusinessMom on June 26, 2008

Avon ProductsAre there any other women out there that are selling Avon?
I mean…I KNOW there are other women selling Avon….of course there are – what is the ratio of Avon Reps in the USA? Like 1 Rep for every 10 people?

I guess maybe that’s my point. Or….uh…question…

With so many Avon Reps – how does one go about making money with Avon?

I’ve been an Avon Rep forever. And I have to admit – I started out doing it just for myself. I’d buy Avon products for me – and sure….if someone in my family wanted Avon  products….I’d order for them….

But…as the years went on and I was really trying to earn a living from home….I got serious about my Avon business. But….still….it never really took flight like I had hoped.

About a year ago I started reading heavily about organic skincare. The researched it….and felt I wanted to move my family and I more towards organic shampoos, soaps….even what little make up I use…is now organic.

Avon hasn’t quite jumped on the organic band wagon. So I find myself a little torn on what to do about my Avon business. I don’t buy many Avon products anymore. Of course they sell much more than cosmetics….

And I don’t tell other people what they should and shouldn’t put IN their body or ON their body. Sure…I might have an opinion….but I don’t judge or force my agenda. I’m not a fanatic either….trying to turn everyone into vegetarians that eat granola and use only cat mint leaves for deodorant and soap made out of bark, twigs and wildflowers.

To each their on.

So today I ponder whether to leave Avon or stay on board.

I am sure there are Avon Reps out there making TONS of money. But the majority….I think – probably aren’t. (This is just an opinion!)

So I’d like to hear from any Avon Reps out there and how they are doing.

I think it helps to share experiences….and learn from others that are doing the same thing.

I have sold avon for a long time too. I am lucky because I live in a large city and a lot of my clients are my family.

Avon has been a good opportunity for me. I have learned a lot about skincare.

I joined avon when I was 22 and I am now 27.

It’s a good business but you have to really get out there and share the brochures with people.

I give them to everyone. The mcdonalds drive thru, my daughters daycare, the bank, video store. I always follow up with people too and that helps. Don’t expect them to call you.

I don’t use the avon website to sell. I like doing it in person.

I made $18,500 with my avon business last year. After expenses is was more like $15,000. I know thats not a
big amount to some people. But I feel blessed.

I tried AVON three times in 25 years and I never made money. NEVER!

I always ended up in the hole because I would buy stuff at a discount for me and my family. But that still costs you.
And brochures are expensive, most people just look at them and don’t buy. It’s like a fun way to kill time on their lunch break. Like window shopping. LOL

I just quit selling Avon after selling for 3 years. One of the problems is they hire people for customer service that live in places like Pakistan and India. Not only can you not understand them, they can’t understand you. I have not had good luck at all. There have been a LOT of mistakes in the past year and customers get aggravated with that. So, that is my story about Avon.

I sold avon for years. I recently went totally organic for health reasons. Avon just doesn’t offer anything for my organic lifestyle and because I don’t use their stuff anymore, I just can’t promote it to others.

I think it’s great, Tamika, that you made that much doing Avon! I think you are in the minority, but you obviously know what you are doing.

I did Avon and another direct sales venture before finding The MOM Team 5 years ago. I now make about $30,000/year working at home around my 3 little boys.

I am looking to make $50,000 in the next 6 months, but in order to do that I need to find some other very motivated people to partner up with and HELP.

Are you that person? Visit my website and click on “Get More Info”. It will come right to me and I’ll call you so we can chat!

Wendey,

I think what you’re doing is Melaleuca – correct??
Gosh….I sure did try that a few years ago.
We (my friend Kim and I) were on The MOMTeam too – our mentor was Jake? Can’t remember his last name….it started with an F.
But anyway…me and my friend Kim worked like dogs.
Every time we signed someone up – two people would drop out.

No one liked having to be charged automatically each month for products. I continued to buy products for three years even after I stopped trying to build the business. I really like their laundry detergent.

About 2 months ago I finally just dropped out completely because I was spending about $75 a month just to stay active.

I know some people really do well with Mela though. I just don’t care for all the recruiting. I would spend days talking on the phone with people. Just wasn’t for me.

Sounds like you’re doing well though!

Continued success to you!!
