July 31st, 2008Real Estate Needs to GET REAL!
Ya know….
If one more person comes up to me and says….”So-n-So had to GIVE their house away in order to sell it!” I am going to scream!
Why does this annoy me so?
Well….my house is for sale. It’s been for sale for a little over a year. And you know what?
I’m not going to GIVE IT AWAY!!
So all you housing market experts and smart mouth real estate agents that are out there advising their buyers to start out with an offer of 70%-50% of the asking price can ease up! That’s crazy!! Nutty!!
Just SHUT UP! May low-ball kharma come back at you and smack you upside the head!
Those of us trying to sell our homes….our decent homes that are truly worth what we’re asking for are getting fed up. Just because “Mr. Can’t Get a Loan” isn’t able to buy a home in the price range that ’said’ house is in - doesn’t mean ’said’ house has to reduce the price.
It means “Mr. Can’t Get a Loan” needs to shop in a lower price range!! Or RENT!
I realize that the economy is bad and that the housing market is bad….
Wait….I take that back. I “assume” the housing market and economy is bad because
bad news is being shoved down our throats every day. Oh the gas prices, oh the energy crisis, the ozone layer, the polar ice caps, the war, the election, foreclosures on the rise, food prices up because of the gas prices, layoffs, downsizing….
::Breathe::
Ya think maybe hearing this crap every day is kind of depressing for people??
Stop it. Just stop it! You’re spreading bad ju ju and it’s pissing me off.
Who am I to say anything? Pollyana?? Maybe.
I refuse to sit around and have a pity party every day because some doofus on the news says things are BAAAAAAAAD. Things are REAL bad. Things are low-down dirty bad. Bad to the bone…..so bad, made ‘your momma bad’ BAD!
People…we have the power to change this.
We CAN make things better.
For starters we can stop feeling like the world is ending. That gets us nowhere.
Now granted….my house may NEVER sell. I don’t care. Whatever - I’m over it. I’m lucky in the respect that I don’t HAVE to sell my house. But I guarantee you if it DOES sell - it will be damn close to my asking price. As a matter of fact….it’s public info when it sells….so you’ll know.
Side Note: All you “creepers” (that’s what I call the people that drive by my house looking at it because it’s for sale), make a damn showing appointment, come in and see it. BUT know that my asking price, is the price. Take your tire kickin booty somewhere else if that’s your game plan. And if you do come look….and I’ve cleaned my house for you to come and look - don’t even think about coughing up some fur ball of a low offer. And tell your Realtor he (or she) is an idiot for advising you to make a crappy offer, look in a price range you can’t buy in and for not having you get qualified at a bank before you started looking.
But even if I HAD to sell, or I did one of those crazy, kooky non-conventional “gimme an ARM” or a leg, or a pinky, a toe or whatever loans - I promise you…life would go on. Me and the kids and my husband might have to live in my Mom’s basement 551 miles away….but we’d carry on.
It’s not about the house, the economy, the news or whatever.
It’s about TODAY.
Can you see the good in today?
I promise you it’s there.
Tune out the crap. I know it’s coming at us daily. It’s like having a dodge ball team on your back.
::Smack::
Bad News!
::Smack::
Bad News!
Granted….maybe I’m being a little harsh to real estate agents. But dang - 50%-70% of the asking price?? You’re telling your buyers to START there? Again…I say….Are you sure you have your buyer in the right price range?? Are they qualified by a bank already?
Maybe it’s not the agents. Maybe it’s the buyers?
Doesn’t matter.
Get your ducks in a row. Stop trying to screw people out of their houses. Make a decent offer, and for Godsakes….know if you can even get a loan.
This isn’t magic fairy land. You can’t expect someone with a $300,000 house to sell it to you for $150,000?? Now….I am sure there are instances where someone does sell for 50% of the asking price. But come on….it’s not the norm.
So….
Let me just sum this up.
Bad News People - Stop spewing your negative chi and put a friggin smile on your face.
Real Estate Agents - We all know you need to make a sale, but eventually you’re going to have a mob of sellers chasing you with pitch forks if you keep giving out this low ball mentality advice.
Buyers - Have you talked to the bank? Can you get a loan? Do you understand houses for sale aren’t the same as houses on a garden tour? It’s not for your entertainment. People live in these houses. If you’re not serious, don’t have any money or just can’t get a loan - STOP looking.
Creepers - Stop creeping by my house. Either make a showing appointment or go away.
There will be no tea sandwiches and lemonade at my house waiting for you. EVER. There is no unannounced house-giveaway. My house is FOR SALE. The price will not change.
SELLERS - Don’t lower your price. (Those in desperate situations….my sympathies - you gotta do what ya gotta do!) If you get a low ball offer, pick up the phone and call the Realtor representing the buyer PERSONALLY and ask them to put the dang CRACK PIPE DOWN!
And all of us….everyone last one of us. There is a sparkle of good today. It’s there. It may not be a winning lotto ticket, a cure for an illness, an end to the war or something of that
magnitude. BUT…it could simply….very simply…. be a child’s smile, a hug from a neighbor or just a chance to sit in the dappled sun and rest a spell.
There is good in this world.
It ain’t all bad. At least not ‘low-down dirty bad’ anyway.
Dear Dell - Robert_P - Do You Really Exist?
Dearest Dell-Robert_P,
I’m having a hard time believing that a Small Business Liaison from DELL would contact me through my blog regarding my DELL 2407FPW monitor issue considering everything I’ve gone through to try and get my DELL computer fixed over the past year??
Now….let me wrap my brain around this.
:::smacks forehead with hand:::
The on/off button doesn’t work on my DELL 2407FPW monitor and out of the blue a Small Business Liaison at DELL contacts me through the comment form on my blog?
:::Brain is still trying to figure out if I’m being Punk’d or what:::
I’m not sure what to think???
It’s like being contacted by a mythological creature!!
And I’m not trying to be funny!
Where were you when my “cost me a kidney” DELL XPS710 with all the bells and whistles started acting up within the first two weeks after purchase?? I don’t remember a single DELL Small Business Liaison uttering a word when I was on the phone with Shoeb_158101 or Shakeel_151074 or Sushma_103306 or Sajid_Ahmad_0111445 or even Thomas_117543??? OH and how about when one of these lovely so-called support techs asked me to “hoist up” my 75 pound computer, remove the cover off of it and start switching wires around!!!? Isn’t that what “Onsite Service” support is for? Ya know…the “Onsite Service” support I PAID for by getting the GOLD warranty! I didn’t realize it meant that ME….a woman with absolutely no computer hardware skills whatsoever was going to be appointed, “Take your computer apart and fish around in there unplugging stuff ” Tech!? The only thing true about DELL’s “Onsite Service Support” is that YOU, the customer, will be doing the ONSITE tech work yourself IN your own HOME while trying to hold the phone up to your ear listening to someone who knows probably as much as you do read a manual to you in broken English.
But again….didn’t see any DELL Small Business Liaison hiding in my bushes or on my front porch ready to give me a hand.
Have YOU lifted 75 pounds lately?? It’s freakin heavy!
Or how about the total jerk supervisor that made me cry and beg for a new motherboard – heard no DELL Small Business Liaison breathing heavy into the phone eager to help me??? Or how about the total doofus subcontractor DELL sent to install the new ‘begged for’ motherboard…only to tell me, “It won’t boot up – here’s the number for Tech Support.” Where were you then?? Do NOT pass Go – do NOT collect $200. But DO get a prescription for Xanax – you’re gonna need it!!
Dell-Robert_P….maybe you’re new with DELL. Maybe you’re just a nice guy. Maybe – by some miracle, you’re American and speak really good English…..I don’t know? Some say Bigfoot really does exist.
But the only way you can make this right is to refund my $3990.33 or to send me another system and monitor spec’d exactly as this set of junk I have now and give me a direct line to someone in your REAL tech support department that gives a crap about MY account, the money I spend with DELL AND knows how to help me when I have troubleshooting issues …which at this point….pretty much comes standard with any DELL, correct?
I’m not trying to be a bitch. I’m not trying to be difficult. But this so called “Total Satisfaction Return Policy” blah blah…and Gold Warranty blah blah and the three ring circus that has been my experience (my LIFE) since I bought this DELL system leaves me exhausted, exasperated and all out of faith in DELL.
Sincerely,
Kelly Land

DELL = SUCKAGE
Money Suckage.
Mental Health Suckage.
Time Suckage.
Dell needs to make vacuums because they have SUCKING perfected.
Anyone that reads my blog is fully aware of the Dell ‘Turd of a Computer’ Hell SAGA I have been through in the past year.
It’s literally like throwing money into a bottomless pit. I’d get more use from my money if I used it for toilet paper rather than buying something from Dell. (Dell Hell Saga)
And just when I think I could NOT hate Dell much more for sending me an expensive hunk of junk of a computer WITH the GOLD warranty (Oh God…lets not forget the totally useless GOLD warranty that is basically a phone number to a ‘Call India Hotline’ that will pretty much make you feel suicidal by the time you hang up!!!!) — NOW the $700….yes….$700, 24″ inch UltraSharp 2407FPW Widescreen Digital FlatPanel - has been crowned “Piece O’ Crap” as well.
I bought this monitor thinking it would really help me out because of all the work I do on my websites. It’s how I make my living….10 hours a day on the computer can cause some eye strain. I figured it was kind of like investing in my eyesight…my health.
Oh FUG that….my mental health is suffering exponentially. The darn monitor will not turn off and on now. Nope…..it won’t. Ya know why??? Apparently the little push button thing doesn’t want to work anymore. I went online….to see if there was a way to fix it…..
Jesus…..do you know how many other people are having this issue?? ALOT! (FixYa -Others with same problem) Now I ask you…..what should one do when your monitor is
no longer under warranty (Oh and the word warranty means SO much these days!!), yet you’ve only had it about 16 months??
I can tell you this much…..it shouldn’t even be broken at this point!!! I mean Geezopete - it’s ONLY 16 months old DELL??????????? That’s $43.75 a month so far….and it’s already broken??
My husband….bless his heart….pried the power button off, got the monitor to turn back on and now tells me I can only turn it on/off through the power strip.
Lovely….
Isn’t that COOL?? NOT!!
Again…
I am warning ALL small business owners to NOT buy a DELL!! I am a work at home mom running a small home business that relies on the internet (and a computer that works in order to access the internet!!). Small business owners are treated like crap by Dell. My friend told me that when they have a Dell go bad at his company….they ask no questions and send them a new one. Me….just a one person business….DELL has taken a huge crap on me.
For me to come up with $4000 to pay for what I thought was going to be a super helpful, super deluxe computer and monitor for my home business was not easy. Like I said…I had to initially put it on a DELL credit account at 19.24% interest!! So I had to choke even more down in interest as well!!!
It’s a disgrace.
I have already talked to a local computer company and they told me that the return rate on Dell’s was 1 out of every 2??? Now…I don’t know if that’s true….and I don’t know where this company got their numbers…..but if it’s even remotely true - Dell needs to just take a step back and figure out the problem and stop taking people’s money.
Have your computer built locally with a reputable company!!! Even if you do buy a Dell and get the GOLD Warranty thinking that will give you extra protection - it won’t. It will only send you on a indescribable, frustrating and humiliating roller coaster ride. A sadist would be in tears.
At least now I have a matching set. A Dell crap ton computer and a Dell crap ton monitor.
Thanks Dell for taking a huge dump in this work at home mom’s home office!! I will give you kudos on your sucking power….incredible.
I looked up the definition of “dell” - ‘A small secluded, wooded valley’. Trust me….it’s the perfect name for this company. You’ll FEEL like you’re in a small, secluded, wooded valley when you start having issues with your Dell product. You’ll feel all alone….yelling for help….with no one there to hear you. You’ll cry out…..only to hear the sound of sucking wind.
