Tumbling Toward Christmas – Moms Can Get Stressed Out!

by HomeBasedBusinessMom on December 4, 2008

I’m going to admit something to you today….
Gosh…this is so bad…

I have NOT bought a single Christmas gift yet. Haven’t ordered one……thought about one…..nothing.

Nope…..none.

Normally I order it all online the first week of November. I’ve done it that way for the last three years. But this year – I don’t know what happened. I just didn’t do it. Didn’t want to sit at the computer and click, click my way to Christmas.

This year – I feel like getting out there!! Yes….“out there” in the rough and tumble of Christmas. I realize Christmas is not about gift giving – but when you’ve got a 14 year old and an 8 year old – gift giving plays a big part.

My 8 year old daughter was kind enough to circle EVERY item in EVERY kids flyer and catalog so that I would know what she wanted. She MUST be shopping for her entire school???

My 14 year old son….has asked for….nothing. I keep trying to suggest things to him. I went as far as offering an iPhone. Nope…..he said…”Mom, I have a cellphone already and it works fine.” GEEZOPETE!
He said he just wants me to renew his Xbox Live for the year and maybe a few books or something. I WILL
surprise him. I WILL find things he will WANT!! I know…it’s not about the gifts.

So this Friday I plan on going OUT there after work WITH my husband (who has never participated in Christmas shopping for the kids) and together we’re going to accomplish operation “Tumbling Toward Christmas!”

That’s what it feels like anyway.
Every day is cookie exchanges, Christmas parties, practice for the Christmas play, can good drives, wrapping, decorating, more wrapping…..angel tree gifts, school holiday celebrations….it goes on and on.

On top of all that – ya still gotta work. Ya still gotta keep your house clean and the laundry done up. Then you have those things come up like…..oh….say…..getting your hair done because the gray is showing up WAY too much. Ya gotta get the dog to the vet because she keeps throwing up. The new ktitens have to go to the vet every other day it seems for boosters, and vaccines and worming and blah blah blah….

Or should I say Fa La La La La La??

:::smirk:::

Whew……

It’s hard….Christmas.
I mean….I love it. I love Christmas Day and my family being here with me without a care in the world. I love breakfast casserole Christmas morning. And sweet rolls and my coffee just tastes better. It’s a day at my house where I truly just relax.

So all the tumbling…..the harried, hurried, blurry race to “make” Christmas happen at your house is a lot of work.

But the pay off….
The smiles…laughter…..giggles….unwinding…..reminiscing….and being with the ones you love – it’s like winning the lotto of life. And that’s a priceless gift indeed.
