I’ve not blogged in a long time….
No seriously – a really long time. Since October.
Do I have an excuse??
Yes…yes I do.
Our house that had been on the market for over two years went under contract. I was the listing agent ( Yes…I also have an NC real estate license….it’s like I can’t stop “collecting” jobs! LOL)
It has not been a fun “selling” process. I don’t want to go into details….but to put it in basic terms – it was somewhat of a hellish, stressful, frustrating, never-ending journey through a maze of rude, snotty, obnoxious incompetence. Now any Realtor reading this, will tell you…..”We all have our war stories…..so suck it up.”
Yep…I NOW have my war story – and it leveled me. Emotionally, physically, mentally…..
So there you have it. My excuse.
BUT – and you know I love BUTS.
The nightmare ended happily. My family and I are now in our little cottage, right in the location we want to be in – and I never…..ever want to move again. Not even into a free, gorgeous, brand new home…..no, No….NO!
So ok…..my point(s).
1. I’m blogging again. Aren’t you thrilled?
2. If you have friends that are moving, or you see people moving into a house near you…..or you have family moving in your area…..cut these people some slack. Moving is HARD!!!! It sucks. Whether it’s a wonderful, jolly move…or a not so happy move — it’s exhausting, mind blowing and can really frick with your basic abilities to function….let alone…make coffee, feed the dog or try and just make a can of soup for your kids!!
3. I don’t recommend being your own Realtor even when you have a license unless you’re some SUPER agent that deals in real estate daily. If you’re like me….and just dabble in real estate – the more experienced agents can be grouchy. NO…not just grouchy…..bitchy. It’s not fun. You have enough to deal with in the housing market right now if you’re selling without being your own agent. Focus on keeping your house/yard “show” ready, packing, scheduling movers, having utilities turned off/on….etc — don’t get bogged down with Agent Suzy Snippy Pants barking at you too. It sucks.
So…..with that….happy new year to you all. May it be a fabulous, wonderful, healthy, safe, comforting and joyful year for us all. And of course….for all of us home based working moms…..or moms that are hoping to work at home this year…much success to you. Life can knock us down….but eventually, we get back up again….FIND the coffee maker, feed the dog and the kids…..and tackle the next drama that comes our way!
